Tint & Form exists because of a small, stubborn observation: a coloured glass changes a table more than almost anything else you can put on it, and costs less than any of the alternatives.
Repainting a room is a weekend. New linen is a decision. Six glasses that throw rose and amber across the cloth when the afternoon light comes in is a box that arrives on a Tuesday.
What we make
Two colour systems run through everything we sell, and the difference between them is worth understanding before you buy.
Body-tinted pieces carry the colour through the full thickness of the glass. It pools and darkens at the base of the bowl and thins almost to clear at the rim, so a filled glass and an empty one are two different objects on the same table. Pontil, Marver and Lume work this way.
Base-tinted pieces put the colour in the stem, the foot or the cut lower body and leave the bowl clear. Wine shows its own colour, and the stem does the identifying — nobody loses their glass between the first course and the second. Iris, Poppy, Vesper, Facet and Ember work this way.
Where it comes from
Our glassware is made in Europe, in two places with long histories in it: the Czech Republic and Tuscany. All of it is lead-free crystal. The Italian pieces are melted in fully electric furnaces.
Our own colourways
We name our tints ourselves — Madder, Garnet, Verdigris, Umber, Alabaster, Ochre, Delft, Halo and the rest — and we assemble sets that don't exist anywhere else. The Pontil Quartet, the Marver Duet, the Lume Pair: these are compositions, not catalogue items. Choosing which four colours sit together on a table is the part of this we care about most.
